The Dortmunder Energie- und Wasserversorgung GmbH (DEW21) has announced a reduction in the basic supply prices for both electricity and natural gas, effective April 1, 2026.
The price per kilowatt hour of electricity in the basic supply will decrease from 41.5 cents to 36.4 cents. The work price for natural gas in the basic supply will be reduced from 14.8 cents per kilowatt hour to 12.8 cents per kilowatt hour. The fixed base charges will remain unchanged for both electricity and gas.
For a typical household with an annual electricity consumption of 2,000 kWh, the reduction results in an estimated saving of €103 per year. For annual gas consumption of 12,000 kWh, the saving is about €245 per year.
DEW21 plans to inform basic supply customers in writing in mid-February 2026 about the upcoming price changes. The company also offers additional tariff options with different conditions for interested customers.
According to DEW21, the price adjustments are made possible by improved procurement conditions for energy and changes in external components such as taxes, levies and surcharges that affect consumer prices.
