Christmas Market 2025 - one of Germany’s tallest Christmas trees
The Dortmund Christmas Market — one of Germany’s most iconic and largest winter events — returns from 20 November to 30 December 2025. Every year it attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors from across Germany and abroad, offering a unique combination of tradition, warm holiday spirit and impressive decorations.
The market’s greatest highlight is its famous Christmas tree, traditionally considered one of the tallest in the country. Constructed from multiple smaller trees, it forms a towering illuminated structure decorated with thousands of lights, ornaments and festive garlands. In the evening, it becomes the central attraction, creating a magical winter atmosphere.
Visitors will discover more than 300 decorated stalls, offering everything from handcrafted items to traditional sweets, ceramics, jewelry, winter delicacies and regional specialties. Hot drinks, including various types of mulled wine, as well as Westphalian street food classics, make the visit even more enjoyable.
A special focus in 2025 is dedicated to family activities. Children can enjoy interactive zones, small stage performances, workshops and festive animations. Evening hours will feature light shows and live music to transform the city center into a charming winter wonderland.
Thanks to its central location, the market is easy to reach. The city is planning increased public transport service to ensure smooth access and avoid congestion in the inner city.
